Paul Palmer R.I.P

by catfishcatfish on 2-4-2009

Just got the word today that Paul Palmer was shot and killed last night in Pittsburgh by a police officer. I don't know the story. What i read was that he pulled a .357 on the cop and the cop fired back. Regardless..this is another tragic loss for BMX.

I met Paul through Trey Leeper. Longtime flatland rider and shredder from Pittsburgh and pretty much the catalyst for the flatland scene there. I am pretty sure I was still in high school when I first met Paul. We were right around the same age and he was a little guy like me. He was one of those guys that was just naturally gifted at flatland. He picked stuff up so quick.  The pittsburgh dudes would come to youngstown and ride now and then. Paul, Trey, Val Naso, and Sean Peters were all good friends. I actually rode with Paul the very first time I went to Chenga. Scott Powell and Dave invited a bunch of us up to come ride. There weren't even any ramps there yet. Over the years I would see Paul and crew at BS comps and York Jams. I admired his style and loved the fact that he got better everytime I saw him.  Lots of good times and great memories. Paul...you will be missed.  Rest in peace my friend.

here is a 10 second video of Paul that Keith King posted on global flat.
